The vast array of titles accessible through Total Boox supplement physical collections that are often difficult to build, including computer books, comics, and New Age titles. Just think how much easier it is to promote these types of books by giving your patrons 24/7 access to them.
Terry Kirchner, Director, Westchester Library System, NY
Total Boox is one of the best values I have come across for eBooks. The logical pay-as-you-read model is by far the most cost-effective for making your collection dollars stretch.
Tom West, Adult Coordinator, Brazoria County Library System, TX
This is a great opportunity for Califa to test a new ebook model with powerful content. Making a variety of titles available to their patrons, our member libraries will be empowered to support economic development in a way that has never been done before.
Susan Hildreth, Executive Director, CALIFA
We are excited about dramatically expanding our ebook collection with Total Boox, as there is no big upfront cost and no annual platform fee. We love the idea of paying only for what library users actually read.
Alice Knapp, Director, The Ferguson Library, Stamford, CT
Publishers would be really smart to let us have access to their whole inventory [as is the case with Total Boox]... Our readers are pretty voracious, but for us to pick things out for them, we’re really shooting in the dark... If they had access to the entire inventory of a publisher, they would find much more than we would be able to pick for them.
Jo Budler, State Librarian of Kansas
This is what disruption looks like, my friends. Everything you thought you knew must be thought through again.
James LaRue, writer, speaker, and authority on ebooks
Each week, Total Boox registered users receive subject-specific newsletters highlighting a range of titles, authors, or genres. These newsletters, archived here in accessible PDF format, make for great recommendation tools for librarians promoting Total Boox content to their patrons. Total Boox Recommendations
How-to books (i.e., self-help books), along with fiction books (of all types), are the backbone of our collection. This brief overview of the types of how-to titles available via Total Boox is organized into general categories familiar to librarians and Reader’s Advisory experts. Total Boox How-to Collection
Shelves are collections of titles created by patrons on topics of their choice (e.g., beach reads). They may be private or public; if shared, anyone can download them. Publishers create Shelves to promote their books to readers, while librarians may use them for Reader’s Advisory, such as, for example, when promoting an author or event or supporting book club readings.
